Barry Portman

Managing Partner

Barry Portman

Barry Portman has more than 25 years of oilfield experience in operations and management, from small startups to a multi-billion-dollar public company. His operational background includes production, drilling, completions, plant & midstream, facilities, maintenance, and integrated service management. Portman now owns and operates his own oil & gas operations company, BCP Resources, LLC and is
founder and Managing Partner for Lodestone Energy Partners, LP. Before that, he served as Vice
President, Production Operations, and Permian General Manager for Pioneer Natural Resources. He also lead operations for Marathon Oil Company and Kinder Morgan. He has experience in both private
equity and debt financing. Portman has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rose-
Hulman Institute of Technology.

Russell Smith

Partner

Russell Smith

Russell has spent over 18 years in oil and gas in the Permian in engineering, field, and executive
management roles. His prior roles include COO for Martin Water Midstream LLC and Operations
Manager for CapturePoint LLC. He spent over a decade with Pioneer Natural Resources in production,
facilities, and water midstream engineering management, and as maintenance and electrical
superintendent. Starting his career in facilities engineering focused on CO2 EOR with Hess Corporation
and Nicholas Consulting Group. Russell holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University
and has been a Professional Engineer in the state of Texas since 2010.

Cindy Portman

Partner — Finance and Administration

Cindy Portman

Cindy Portman is an entrepreneur specializing in the energy sector. Founding her first business in real estate, she moved into oil and gas with the acquisition of an oil field in West Texas.  Partnering with industry experts, Cindy has successfully expanded her portfolio to include multi-million dollar assets. Prior to that Cindy worked in healthcare for over 20 years as an RN and educator. She is a Texas Tech graduate with a Masters in Nursing and EdS in Education.

Gary Covert

Gary Covert

Gary has over twenty years’ management and consulting experience in a wide variety of industries including semiconductor, mining, construction, aerospace, technology, global hospitality, healthcare, insurance, and energy. He is the founder of Gary Covert Consulting, a management consulting company specializing in helping CEOs and their teams align to improve their most important numbers. He earned his BA in Japanese from Arizona State University and his MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Sean McKinley

Sean McKinley

Sean is CEO and co-founder of Rockbridge Petroleum, a crude oil gathering and marketing company
active in the Permian and Anadarko Basins.  Prior to Rockbridge, Sean was an oil and gas M&A lawyer for Latham & Watkins for 6 years.  Prior to becoming a lawyer Sean was an analyst for EDF Trading, North
America.  Sean received his law degree from the University of Texas, and his undergraduate degree from
Washington & Lee University.  Sean lives in Houston, Texas with his wife and four sons.

Brock Naeve

Brock has worked in the private equity industry for nearly ten years across roles as a sponsor, lawyer, consultant and private investor. He is founder and CEO of Affirm Partners Group, a family of companies that provides best-in-class organizational consulting and recruitment to top law firms, private equity funds, and PE-backed companies. He started his career as an oil and gas M&A attorney at Latham & Watkins in Houston, and also worked in a hybrid business and
legal role for a middle-market private equity fund. He holds a BBA from The University of Texas at
Austin and a JD from The University of Texas School of Law.

Amit Sharma

Amit Sharma has over 25 years of executive experience in public and private US oil and gas companies. He founded multiple businesses in oil and gas, healthcare, hospitality and IT across India and the US, where he serves on the advisory boards of educational institutes. His strong M&A, strategic business development and corporate experience has generated cumulative assets of $4 billion+. Amit’s international philanthropic initiatives encompass rural healthcare, agriculture, and education. He holds a BS and MS in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and an MS in Petroleum Engineering from New Mexico Tech, Socorro.

Bruce Hoover

Operations Manager

Bruce Hoover

Bruce Hoover brings over 42 years of experience in oilfield operations to his current role. His extensive operational background includes sub surface pumps and oilfield supplies, conventional operations of waterflood and CO2 flood fields, drilling operation supervision, horizontal production operations and manufacturing.  He is an experienced safety leader. A second generation Midland native, Bruce graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. He joined BCP Resources, LLC in 2021.
